Materials You'll Need:
Before we dive into the world of 3 D shell stitches and shawl crafting, let's gather the materials you'll need for this project:
Yarn: Choose a yarn in your preferred color and weight. Light to medium-weight yarns work well for shawls, offering the right balance of warmth and drape.
Crochet Hook: Select an appropriate crochet hook size that complements your chosen yarn. Typically, a hook in the range of 4mm to 6mm is suitable for shawl-making. My personal advice - use crochet one size bigger than it is recommended for your choosen yarn.
Scissors: A good pair of scissors is essential for cleanly cutting your yarn.
Yarn Needle: You'll need a yarn needle for weaving in ends and finishing your shawl.
Make chains as many as you want, YES, You don't need to count stitches!
After finishing Step 1, if chain is to long, do this:
(1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc) in one st = V st
In 6 ch from the hook *make (1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc), skip 3 ch, in next the ch repeat from * till the last 3 ch, 1 dc in last ch.
3 ch, 3D shell stitch in each V stitch from previous row
3D shell stitch = (1 fpdc, 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc, 1 fpdc) in V st below, finish with 1 dc in last st
Video tutorial 3D shell stitch:
