For theese coasters I used 3 different yarns: 

I'm just in love with this stitch. At first glance, it looks very tricky, but once you've learned it, you'll fall in love. For this stitch, I advise using soft, fluffy yarn like mohair, angora, or blended wool. However, avoid using 'clean' looking yarns like cotton or linen, as you will lose that cozy look.
